Brixton Chamber Orchestra is a dynamic ensemble comprised of highly skilled musicians who have received classical training. Their primary objective is to provide exceptional orchestral performances that captivate and inspire the residents of Brixton, a vibrant neighbourhood located in South London.

The instrumental role played by local businesses in supporting the orchestra's mission. By forging partnerships with these enterprises, the Brixton Chamber Orchestra not only secures vital financial backing but also benefits from the expertise and resources that these businesses bring to the table. These collaborations enable the orchestra to expand their reach, enhance their programming, and create unique opportunities for engagement with the local community. Building relationships with local businesses is a mutually beneficial endeavour, as it allows these enterprises to align themselves with a respected cultural institution while contributing to the artistic and social development of Brixton.

The Brixton Chamber Orchestra, also known as BCO, was founded in 2018 as a charitable organisation with a mission to offer complimentary orchestral performances to the community and create paid performance platforms for emerging professional musicians. The orchestra has a diverse repertoire, ranging from classical music to genres like grime, disco, and drum and bass, catering to a wide range of musical tastes and preferences.

During the summer and Christmas seasons, the BCO conducts tours around various housing estates in Lambeth, where they bring a 22-piece orchestra directly to the residents. These tours not only showcase the talents of the orchestra's singers and rappers but also provide a platform for local audience members and talented individuals residing in the estates to perform alongside a live orchestra. This unique initiative not only brings music directly to the community but also fosters a sense of inclusivity and collaboration, making each performance a truly special and memorable experience for all involved.

The Estates Tours have been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Arts Council. This project has truly become the highlight of the year for the people of Lambeth, eagerly anticipated by all. Building on the success of previous years, BCO have taken the project to new heights and are thrilled to announce, they offer merchandise related to the Estates Tours, giving their audience a chance to take a piece of the event home with them.

None of this would have been possible without the support they received from the Arts Council, made possible by the contributions of National Lottery players. Their support has allowed BCO to expand their reach and connect with an even wider audience. They are grateful for the opportunity to share the magic of the Estates Tours with more people than ever before. The Arts Council's support has truly been instrumental in making this project a success, and look forward to continuing to bring joy and inspiration to the people of Lambeth through the power of the arts.

BCO has a long-standing presence within their community, but their efforts to support and uplift one another have truly intensified since the onset of the pandemic. One notable initiative includes their partnership with Minus 12 Degrees, a local gelato shop, to create a unique ice cream flavour inspired by their debut single, Cornflake. This innovative flavour features cereal milk ice cream with a delightful choc cornflake crunch, showcasing the creativity and collaboration between BCO and Minus 12 Degrees.

Additionally, BCO has joined forces with The Lazy Scientist, a renowned local hot sauce maker, to craft their very own hot sauce. This special blend, infused with pineapple and smoked salt, offers a tantalising kick that pairs perfectly with pizza and a variety of dishes. Furthermore, BCO has ventured into the world of craft beer by teaming up with Brixton Brewery to produce a limited edition beer named Conductor Session IPA, which quickly became a sought-after beverage. These collaborations not only highlight the talents of local businesses but also serve as a means to raise awareness for BCO, drive donations, and promote their Supporters Scheme, with profits contributing towards their charitable endeavours.

The Brixton Chamber Orchestra offers exceptional live music performances suitable for any occasion, regardless of size or financial constraints. Their musical offerings range from intimate string quartets and lively street bands to a grand 40-piece concert orchestra, showcasing a diverse repertoire that spans across various genres including classical, jazz, disco, and house music.

Over the past few years, their orchestra has graced prestigious events such as Glastonbury, Wilderness, The London Marathon, The Ashes, Winter Wonderland, as well as numerous weddings, private parties, and corporate functions throughout the United Kingdom. With a commitment to delivering unforgettable musical experiences, BCO strive to cater to the unique preferences and requirements of each event, ensuring that their performances leave a lasting impression on both audiences and hosts alike.

The Brixton Chamber Orchestra, (BCO), serves as an exceptional illustration of the remarkable creativity and solidarity that can emerge from a diverse group of individuals collaborating. This community showcases a wide array of talents, all brought together in a spirit of inclusivity and unity, highlighting the power of diversity in achieving common goals.

By setting aside barriers related to colour, style, culture, and creative differences, the Brixton Chamber Orchestra exemplifies what can be achieved when people come together as equals, embracing love and laughter as they unite through the universal language of music. Their ability to transcend differences and work harmoniously towards a shared vision is truly inspiring.

The BCO stands out as a one-of-a-kind ensemble, blending together musicians and artistes who not only create beautiful music but also serve as ambassadors of peace for the future. Their commitment to breaking down barriers and fostering connections through music sets a shining example for communities everywhere, demonstrating the transformative power of collaboration and unity.
