Lyn Mareno - Co-founder RISE

Lynn Moreno, originally from Bristol, moved to Easton at the age of 13 from Knowle West, giving her a unique perspective on multiculturalism in the city. She has experienced both the diverse aspects of Bristol as well as the segregated views that were prevalent during her upbringing.

After leaving Bristol for a period of 2 decades and returning in 2008, Lynn was disheartened to see that little had changed in terms of social and economic visibility for certain communities within the city. This realisation sparked a desire within her to make a difference and support her community in a meaningful way.

Recognising the lack of representation and opportunities for women from the African Caribbean Community in mainstream Bristol, Lynn saw an opportunity to create positive change. By connecting with like-minded individuals such as Sandra Gordon, she became actively involved in initiatives that aimed to empower and uplift women from her community, ultimately contributing to the evolving landscape of Bristol.

In addition to her role as a counsellor and complimentary therapist, Lyn is dedicated to using her social conscience to uplift and empower the younger generation. As a motivational speaker and workshop facilitator, she understands the importance of community involvement and devotes a significant amount of time to supporting the youth in her community.

She also recognises the value of the older generation, considering them as the bedrock for our present and future generations. Through her various roles, she strives to create a harmonious and inclusive society where both the young and the elderly can thrive.
