October 2nd: Today's Feature - Norman Cowans/Cricketer
Born at Enfield in Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica, Norman Cowans moved to England with his family when he was just seven years old. At first he worked as a member of the groundstaff at Lord's then joined and in 1981 made his debut for Middlesex. After claiming, at the age of 21, 43 first class wickets for the club, he was picked for England's defence of the Ashes in Australia in 1982/83.

October 1st: Today's Feature - Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. It has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland and the United Kingdom. It began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora.

September 30th: Today's Feature - Roy Hackett
Lurel Roy Hackett MBE (19 September 1928 – 2 August 2022) was a Jamaican-born activist and long-time civil rights campaigner for the British African-Caribbean community in Bristol, England. He was one of the primary organisers of the Bristol Bus Boycott, which protested against the Bristol Omnibus Company's ban on employing black and Asian drivers and conductors. These events then paved the way for the Race Relations Act of 1965

September 29th: Today's Feature - Dr Pogus Caesar/Artist
Pogus Caesar was born on the Caribbean island of Saint Kitts. At an early age, came to Birmingham in Britain. He took up painting seriously in his early 20s. Caesar developed his own variation of Pointillism.During the early 1980s, Caesar was appointed director of the West Midlands Minority Arts Service. He was the first chairman of Birmingham International Film & Television Festival.

September 28th: Today's Feature - The Brixton Riot of 1985
The Brixton riot of 1985 started on 28th September in Lambeth in South London. It was the second major riot that the area had witnessed in the space of four years, the last in 1981. It was sparked by the shooting of Dorothy "Cherry" Groce by the Metropolitan Police, while they sought her 21-year-old son Michael Groce in relation to a robbery and suspected firearms offence; they believed Michael Groce was hiding in his mother's home.

September 27th: Today's Feature - Pearl Priscilla Prescod
Pearl Priscilla Prescod (28 May 1920 – 25 June 1966) was a Tobagonian actress and singer. She was one of the earliest Caribbean entertainers to appear on British television and was the first Black woman to appear with London's National Theatre Company.
Prescod arrived in Britain in the early 1950s and resided in Notting Hill, London. During her time in Britain, she was cast in numerous television roles and theatre productions, and was active in the anti-racism struggle in L

September 26th: Today's Feature - Brixton Market
Brixton Market comprises a street market in the centre of Brixton, south London, and the adjacent covered market areas in nearby arcades Reliance Arcade, Market Row and Granville Arcade (once branded as 'Brixton Village’).
The market sells a wide range of foods and goods but is best known for its African and Caribbean produce, which reflect the diverse community of Brixton and surrounding areas of Lambeth.

September 25th: Today's Feature - Michael Watson
Michael Watson MBE (born 15 March 1965) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1984 to 1991. He held the Commonwealth middleweight title from 1989 to 1991, and challenged three times for a world title between 1990 and 1991. Watson's career was cut short as a result of a near-fatal injury sustained during a loss to Chris Eubank for the WBO super-middleweight title in 1991.

September 24th: Today's Feature - Mona Baptiste
Born into a well-known family in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on 21 June 1928, one of five sisters, Mona Baptiste was 14 when she began singing on the radio and at dances, later becoming involved with the Little Carib Theatre. She migrated to England in 1948 on the HMT Empire Windrush, which arrived at Tilbury Docks, Essex, on 22 June, the day after her 20th birthday.
